Sales reps that are cold calling in 2023 have an advantage.

With all the email / sequence AI stuff coming out, it’s becoming increasingly easier to send relevant messages at scale and this is not slowing down.

I personally get 10-20x more emails than I do cold calls.

Most of the top reps I know right now are booking a significant amount of their meetings over cold calls… and that’s across a number of personas including Sales, HR and Engineering.

Here’s how I think about breaking down a cold call and this is a concept that was taught to me by the sales legend himself Belal Batrawy from Death to Fluff.

Note: there is a key reason why the cold call is broken up into buckets and it has to do with practice and how you think about training for them.

Instead of going through full mock calls you need to break calls down into components.

Steph Curry doesn't practice by going 4 full quarters.

He hit's 1000 three's in a row to perfect that one shot.

You should be doing the same until you absolutely NAIL that one part.

Practice possible talk tracks in each component with a peer or a manager until you no longer have to really think much on the spot in calls.

For today, we will focus on the first 2 parts of the cold call, which are hands down the most important.
